The focus of the Secondary Education Department is to offer in-service and pre-service practitioners an opportunity to acquire state endorsements and licensure while enhancing their professional development. The goal is to prepare competent, compassionate, collaborative, and committed leaders capable of meeting the diverse needs of all learners. The programs offered in the SESL Department include:
Master of Arts (MA) in Urban Education with concentrations in:
- Principal Preparation Pre-K-12 (Accelerated Online Program)*
- Curriculum Development and Supervision (currently under revision and not accepting applications)
- Advanced Teacher Education in Subject Area Concentrations for those who hold a teacher's license of certification in a content area
Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)* with concentrations in:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- English
- History
- Mathematics
Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling Education with concentrations in
- Professional School Counseling*
- Mental Health Counseling
- Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling
*Approved by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
