Program Overview
This certification will educate students on the etiology of addiction, causes of trauma, and theoretical perspectives involved treatment. Coursework covers environmental factors of addiction and trauma, therapeutic theories, and methods to research topics for providing an empirical based treatment framework. Individuals completing the coursework in Trauma and Addiction Treatment will meet the Virginia Certification Board and International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium's (IC&RC) certification requirements.
Admissions Requirements
- Submit a Graduate School Application for Admission and pay the application fee.
- Students must have a completed master’s degree or bachelor's degree with a minimum acceptable undergraduate GPA of 2.50 (of 4.00).
- Submit official transcripts from the undergraduate institution where a master’s or bachelor’s degree has been conferred.
- Submit a current resume.
- Submit a personal statement of about 300-500 words
Applications are due May 1 for fall admission and November 1 for spring admission.
